SEVENTEEN Sub-Unit CxM Interpolate Roy Orbison On New Song “5, 4, 3 (Pretty woman)”
Pretty Woman, Gyucheol got you! Seventeen members S.Coups and Mingyu dropped their first single as a duo, "5, 4, 3 (Pretty Woman). S.Coups and Mingyu — showcased the excitement and intensity of “irresistible attraction” in their first mini-album, “Hype Vibes.”
The 13-member Korean boy band SEVENTEEN (세븐틴) has already spun off a handful of sub-units, and today, we have another one, as S.COUPS (에스쿱스) and MINGYU (민규) team up to form CxM. The duo has released its debut mini-album, HYPE VIBES, featuring the single “5, 4, 3 (Pretty woman),” which interpolates late rock ’n’ roll legend Roy Orbison’s 1964 classic “Oh, Pretty Woman". The six-track project sees the duo leaning into their hip-hop unit roots while radiating a more carefree, vibrant persona. From the disco-glossed lead single ‘5, 4, 3 (Pretty woman)’ featuring Gen Z star Lay Bankz, to the genre hopping b-sides, HYPE VIBES is a full-bodied intro to CxM's world of rhythm, romance, and real connection.
"HYPE VIBES reveals S.Coups and Mingyu fully immersed in the present, moving to their own rhythm. The album also extends a metaphorical ‘high-five’ to listeners,” PLEDIS Entertainment said in a press statement. “Just like a high-five that ignites connection and excitement, this release transmits CxM’s free-spirited vibes and dynamic vitality, expressing their desire to connect with people from all walks of life,” the music label added.
“5, 4, 3 (Pretty woman)” fits Orbison’s melody and guitar riff over a slamming dance beat, and while the whole thing feels shiny and modern, it’s still a song about having your world turned upside down by a beautiful lady.
